Tessmer of Fairfax Wins Accolades at International Competition

Three photographs by Joseph Tessmer have recently won at the Professional Photographers of America's 2011International Photographic Competition

Tessmer's work will be on display at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, January 15-17, 2012, in New Orleans, La. A panel of eminent jurors from across the United States selected Tessmer's photographs from more than 4,000 total submitted entries. Just over 600 (15 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection. Tessmer's loan collection photographs Light and Symmetry and Green Prickles along with his best of show photograph Sunset Sail will be displayed.

The Virginia Professional Photographers Association honors Tessmer of Fairfax

It has often been said that Tessmer of Fairfax has lots of laurels they just don't rest on them. To prove the point the Virginia Professional Photographers Association has awarded JoeTessmer one of the highest awards a photographer can receive. Best social event photographer. Social events include weddings, anniversaries, parties and funerals.

Joe Tessmer Prints Selected for Exhibition at Dulles Airport:

The Arts Council for the Dulles Gateway Exhibition chooses Concentric Angles by Joe Tessmer for their current display.

Concentric Angles, a photograph that has won at the state, regional and national level was among the images chosen for the curent display of Washington images that awaits arriving passengers at Dulles airport. Saturday Jaunuary 28, 2012 and Sunday Februrary 26, 2012

Beginner Indoor Portraiture: This three hour, hands on workshop provides the background to achieve simple pleasing portraits using window light and affordable studio lighting equipment. Procedures to achieve the most useful lighting pattern and facial position are covered and photographed. Students will use each other as models.

 

Saturday Februray 11, 2012 and Sunday March 10, 2012

Intermediate Indoor Portraiture: You've seen classic portrait in books, magazines and websites. Have you ever wondered how portrait photographers achieve that flattering look around the eyes and how they manage to have one side of the face slightly darker than the other? Also, how do they manage to achieve a pose and an expression that brings out the subject's personality? This workshop expands on the techniques covered in Beginner Indoor Portraiture, which - or equivalent portrait photography experience - is a prerequisite.for this course. It teaches the participants how to use window light and affordable studio lighting equipment to produce classic lighting patterns for a variety of facial positions. Demonstrating the use of a main light and a fill light to achieve that flattering triangular "butterfly" lighting pattern around one eye, and how to measure the amounts of light falling on each side of the face. A method is taught to determine which lighting patterns flatter each particular subject.

Advanced Studio Lighting: This workshop expands on the techniques covered in Beginner and Intermediate Indoor Portraiture. Participants will work with professional lighting equipment to achieve the classic portraiture lighting techniques to replicate the great master portrait artists. Techniques to accentuate masculinity in men and femininity in women will be demonstrated.
